Richard the Lionheart

Richard the Lionheart holds a revered place in English history, largely because of his association with the Robin Hood legend. Yet, historical narratives often omit a significant detail about his personal life: his relationship with another king. Richard shared an intimate bond with King Phillip II of France, which played a pivotal role in forging an alliance between England and France.

This alliance then set the stage for the two nations to initiate the Third Crusade. However, as the campaign progressed, the relationship between the two kings soured, resulting in the dissolution of their alliance.
