If every girl in class wasn’t already so in love with him, they sure were now with his declaration. They looked at him as a prized trophy, and then at her, as if she was somehow stealing him away from them.
‘Well, Miss Hart, how do you respond to that?’ The whole class turned towards her. But it was Ian’s unnerving gaze that made her uncomfortable.
‘I think love is stupid. I don’t think love exists.’
‘Then, how do you explain the feeling? The millions of people out there who woke up today and felt like they were at their happiest because they were loved,’ Ian replied before anyone else had a chance to.

‘They are not in love. They just think they are. It is just some stupid chemical reaction in the brain that makes people think that they are in love. It is just a feeling that you cannot place or understand, and for a lack of another word, people call it love.’
‘Well, now, that is a bold statement, anyone who would add to that? And no, not you, Mr. Spencer. This is a class discussion.’
Carola zoned out when someone from the front seat began to contradict her statement, but she didn’t care. They were stupid to think they were in love or that it existed. She had been, and she would not make the same mistake again.

‘You don’t believe in love?’
The guy next to her could not get a hint.
‘No,’ she replied.
‘Why?’
‘Because it is none of your business. Look, aren’t you a bad boy or something? Just stick to your image and stop bothering me,’ she replied as coldly as she could.
‘It is wrong to judge people before knowing them and even more wrong to stereotype them.’
He never said a word after that but kept glaring at her. She knew she hit a nerve, but she was glad because he was too friendly and too weird, and she did not have time for him.

The bell rang without any warning, and he left.
She was the last to leave, and Mr. Andrew smiled at her.
Things were weird. Her interaction with Ian was strange. The image she had of him was not how he seemed, and it irked her. She spent the next two hours thinking about all that had happened.
She knew she could and would make Ella’s life miserable, but she had no idea what to do with Elliot. How to make him suffer? She had thought about it for an hour and came to a simple conclusion. If she cannot come up with something on how to hurt him in the next two days, she would just make him fall in love with her and break his heart in the worst possible way.
She didn’t really want to do it, so it was her last option. She would only do it if she couldn’t think of anything else.
