Chapter four:
By the second period, the news was all over the school. Those who weren’t there to witness the fiasco knew about it, and it was all everyone seemed to be talking about.
When Carola walked into her third period, English, the popular guys, and their girlfriends all smiled in her direction. The students who were neither the bullied nor the bully looked at her with disappointment. Lowest of all, the food chain was scared of her. It was evident in their eyes.
Dismissing them, she took the seat in the back of the class, wanting to disappear. She was busy on her phone and didn’t notice a person standing before her.
It was his actions that brought her to reality when he glared at the scrawny kid sitting next to her and said, ‘Move.’
The kid had changed seats before Carola could blink, and the guy with hazel eyes – whom she hadn’t been able to stop thinking about, sat beside her.
‘Hey, I am Ian,’ he said in a husky voice that made her clench her thighs.
She didn’t bother looking up from her phone and continued to scroll down Instagram, hoping for the teacher to come in.
He was the most handsome guy she had ever seen, and she couldn’t for the life of her remember why she hadn’t seen him before. A guy this beautiful could not have gone unnoticed. He was tall, around 6’1, with black hair that was a mess – intentionally or unintentionally, she wasn’t sure. But it was the bad boy vibe she was getting from him that fascinated her the most.
Feeling his heated gaze on her, waiting for her to respond, Carola could only think of doing one thing. She let her hair down her face, shielding her from him.
‘It is rude to ignore someone,’ he said, slightly pissed.
‘It is rude to stare,’ she retorted, still hiding her face.
‘Well, can you blame me? Tell me something?’
Again, Carola chose to ignore him.
‘Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?’
This time she couldn’t hold back the chuckle and looked at him with a bored expression, ‘Is that the best you can come up with?’
‘Oh, I like a challenge.’ He smirked, and Carola couldn’t help but be pulled towards him. She couldn’t point it out, but maybe it was his intense glare or his interest in her. Whatever it was, it was making her uncomfortable.
