The black cat on top of the cash register is still sleeping. He is named Kazuma, and he is Mika’s pride and joy. Despite its dark color, the cat’s coat is shiny all over. Kazuma’s eyes are green, with a hint of exotic light. His stare remains cold. When I first came to the convenience store, he kept staring at me as if to express a level of disdain and dissatisfaction.
The sandwich is on the first shelf, and I pick up today’s discounted snack. The convenience store is small from the outside, but the shelves inside could hold a massive amount of stock. There are many sundries on the shelves inside, including vases, mirrors, and raincoats. A red mask hangs on the wall. Some sundries seem to be stained with dust and stains.
Will anyone buy these things? I take my sandwiches and walk to the dining area next to the checkout counter.

“Is it a school activity?” Mika asks.

“Yes, our class is going to take a group tour. We will be visiting the most famous Hotel X.”
