It was a gift – her life. She had been given a second chance, and if she was the excellent person everyone believed her to be, she would give both Elliot and Ella another option, but she couldn’t. If anything, she would get her revenge. They may not have any recollection of what they had done to her, but she could not forget the moments of pain she had felt in her last moments.
Yes, she was vengeful, but she had to be.
She was done fighting herself, from trying to be the bigger person and whatnot. Things were going to change now, and she was going to change them. Her high school life would now be different. She would be the mean girl reincarnate. She would be Regina George 2.0.

Yet still, no matter how vengeful thoughts flowed her mind, no matter the number of ways she had come up with to torture both Ella and Elliot, there was a hollow emptiness in her heart she could not get rid of.
There was also the issue of the hazel-eyed guy she kept coming to. No matter how much she tried, she could not stop thinking of him and her unconscious mind kept playing their moments together.
But, she couldn’t waste her time with him.

Carola knew she could not trust him, she won’t – not after what had happened, and the sooner she accepted it, the better it would be. She realized she would still get her happily ever after, but there was no honesty in that. Everyone was a liar, and she never in her life wanted to go through betrayal or any heartbreak ever again.
As if on cue, the rain started to pour down on her, and she couldn’t stop her own tears. Maybe, just maybe, the universe was crying along with her, or perhaps she was trusting the universe too much. How much it had hurt when she had charged someone before, for it to all be nothing but a lie?

Could she never trust anything or anyone ever again?
She had stayed on top of the roof for hours, and at some point, she had lost count of the time, too. She stayed there, soaking in the light drizzle, feeling herself numb. To go back to school – to live her life again, she had to be calm, and so that day, Carola did not leave the roof until she was sure she was numb.
Until she could not feel anything anymore.
